"I was excited to finally tackle the 100 mile distance and found the format of Jackpot to be both laid back and inspiring. The course itself was exceptionally runnable and I was overzealous in my early pace, but was enjoying myself a lot so no regrets! Fortunately, it was not as lonely as I might have expected for running 100 miles. It was great to talk to other runners and get educated. As my first 100 it was definitely a learning experience, but I had an incredible crew, Halle, that got me ramen noodles and wet wipes when I needed them most. The heat was harsher than I was prepared for and nearly did me in, but the night running was so fantastic. It's always amazing the range of emotions you go through in an ultra but I was happy to finish the last few miles feeling pretty good and excited to try it again sometime down the line."
