Pacific Northwest athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships, held July 23-26 at Icahn Stadium in New York City. The championships marked the 150th edition of the event and its first return to New York City since 1991, with Pacific Northwest athletes earning one national title, three bronze medals, and numerous top-eight performances across a wide range of disciplines.
Leading the way was Nathan Green, who captured his first USATF outdoor title by winning the men's 1500m in a championship time of 3:50.27. Green's victory highlighted a strong championship for Pacific Northwest middle-distance runners, which also featured Gary Martin finishing just off the podium in fourth place with a time of 3:50.74. Martin, a recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest after a standout collegiate career at the University of Virginia, joined the Brooks Beasts Track Club this year and immediately made his presence felt on the national stage.
Pacific Northwest athletes added three bronze medals to their medal haul. Allie Buchalski finished third in the women's 10,000m (33:42.29), Samuel Prakel earned bronze in the men's 5000m (13:46.93), and Trey Knight placed third in the men's hammer throw with a best mark of 73.70m.
The association also produced an impressive collection of top-eight performances. Parker Stokes placed fifth in the men's 3000m steeplechase (8:19.36), while Izabelle Trefts finished sixth in the women's half marathon race walk (1:56:01.57).
Three Pacific Northwest athletes earned seventh-place finishes, including Katie Burnett in the women's half marathon race walk (1:52:21.80), Chandler Ault in the men's javelin throw (69.26m), and James Rhoads in the men's pole vault after clearing 5.62m. Kayley DeLay rounded out the association's top-eight finishers with an eighth-place performance in the women's 5,000m (15:15.75).
