Beard's National Record Leads Pacific Northwesterns to 13 National Titles at Junior Olympic Championships in Georgia

Results

The 2025 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships brought together 7,779 of the nation's top youth athletes from all 50 states to Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia, from July 21–27. USATF Pacific Northwest was well represented, with 159 athletes competing in 241 events and delivering a string of standout performances in hot conditions that caused several weather delays during the seven days of competition

National Titles and All-American Honors Abound

Pacific Northwest athletes delivered an impressive showing at the championships, earning 79 All-American honors and capturing 13 national titles. Athletes who placed in the top eight of their events received All-American status, a spot on the awards podium, championship medals, and the coveted red, white, and blue All-American hats.

Among the Pacific Northwest standout performances were the 13 national titles won by athletes across all of the divisions. Leading the way was Kimberly Beard, who delivered a record-breaking performance in the Girls 17-18 Hammer Throw, setting a new national record with a mark of 56.85m. The previous record was 55.00m set in 2014 by Lena Gieger. Narai Blanchard was the only double gold medalist from Pacific Northwest, winning both the 100m and 200m in the Girls 8U division.

Other gold medalists were Amarianna DeMyers (High Jump, Girls 13-14), Beau Sitzmann (3000m, Girls 11-12), Eddie Bruner Jr. (400m, Boys 17-18), Jared Fry (High Jump, Boys 11-12), Laine McKenzie (Triple Jump, Girls 17-18), Martina Rodriguez-Villen (1500m, Girls 11-12), Miller Warme (400m Hurdles, Boys 15-16) and the West Seattle Road Runners (Girls 11-12 4x800m Relay). These athletes showcased exceptional talent and proudly brought home national titles to the Pacific Northwest.

In the Girls 11-12 1500m, won by Martina Rodriguez-Villen, Pacific Northwest athletes delivered a strong showing by claiming four of the eight All-American spots. Rodriguez-Villen was followed by Savannah Brondstetter (3rd), Everly Haase (4th), and Beau Berry (7th). Two additional athletes, Beau Sitzmann (10th) and Teagan Kemper (11th), also finished among the top eleven..

Multiple All-American Performers

20 athletes achieved All-American status in multiple events, underscoring their versatility and consistency:
  • Jared Fry (Unattached) – 1st in High Jump, 6th in Javelin, 6th in Pentathlon
  • Narai Blanchard (High Voltage) - 1st 100m, 1st 200m
  • Nicholas Altheimer (Kitsap Fliers TFC) – 1st in 200m, 2nd in 100m
  • Yevhen Zhmailo (GLS Speed TC) – 1st in Long Jump, 2nd in Triple Jump
  • Laine McKenzie (GLS Speed TC) – 1st in Triple Jump, 2nd in Long Jump
  • Martina Rodriguez-Villen (Rain City Flyers) – 1st in 1500m, 3rd in 800m
  • Miller Warme (GLS Speed TC) – 1st in 400m Hurdles, 4th in 110m Hurdles
  • Martin Ekure (Rain City Fliers) - 2nd in Pentathlon, 3rd in High Jump

  • Aaliyah Khan (GLS Speed TC) – 2nd in Triple Jump, 6th in Long Jump
  • Martin Ekure (Rain City Flyers) – 2nd in Pentathlon, 3rd in High Jump
  • Carter Ward (Ford Sports Performance) 2nd 400m, 4th 200m
  • Maya Kirtman (Ford Sports Performance) 2nd 80m Hurdles, 8th 100m
  • Sutton Flint (GLS Speed TC) – 3rd in 110m Hurdles, 3rd in 400m Hurdles
  • Savannah Brondstetter (West Seattle RR) – 3rd in 1500m, 4th in 800m
  • Jarmaquil Keeley (High Voltage) – 4th in Long Jump, 6th in 100m
  • Brody Will (Unattached) – 5th in Steeplechase, 8th in 3000m
  • Eleanor Jones (Rain City Flyers) – 5th in Steeplechase, 8th in 3000m

At nationals it was super fun and I enjoyed winning high jump! The competition was pretty hard because there were several athletes only inches behind me. I had to work hard to get there, so it was such a thrill to win it!
